The
purpose of the Louisiana Military Business Incubator is to
serve as a catalyst and virtual incubator to bring together
the research capabilities of Louisiana Universities,
Louisiana small businesses, and local/state economic
development organizations to foster the development of
technologically innovative systems and subsystems for use by
agencies of the United States Departments of Defense and
Homeland Security.
The LMBI
was established as a result of a working relationship
established between Polytech Ammunition Company of Minden
and the Picatinny Arsenal Joint Services Small Arms Program
(JSSAP). JSSAP has organized a consortium group named the
National Small Arms Center (NSAC), which is a part of the
Department of Defense's Strategy for maintaining the U.S.
overmatch supremacy in close combat operations. The NSAC
and its partnering organization, the National Small Arms
Technology Consortium (NSATC) are focused on one prime
objective – producing innovation in small arms comprising
personal defense, individual, crew-served and mission-unique
weapons, munitions, fire-control and ancillary devices.
To move
an idea from development to production as quickly and
efficiently as possible for the ultimate customer - the
soldier in the field. |
