Background
The Louisiana Business & Technology Center (LBTC) is a small
business incubator located on the campus of Louisiana State
University in Baton Rouge, LA. The LBTC began in 1988 as a
joint venture between LSU, the Greater Baton Rouge Chamber
of Commerce and the Louisiana Public Facilities Authority.
In 2006, the LBTC, an integral part of the E. J. Ourso
College of Business, moved off campus to the LSU South
Campus Research Park. The LSU South Campus is a 150 acre
park south of the LSU main campus. The LBTC was named the
2005 National Business Incubator of the Year by the National
Business Incubation Association.
Mission
The LBTC strives to assist entrepreneurs and small
businesses with access to the resources they need to grow
and attain long-term success. The LBTC plays a crucial role
in the economic development future of Louisiana by
supporting Vision 2020, a program designed to enhance the
economic potential of Louisiana, and by promoting the
formation and growth of businesses, cultivating jobs, and
commercializing technology. The LBTC has acquired a
mobile classroom to promote entrepreneurship into rural
Louisiana and to offer disaster business counseling in the
hurricane affected areas of Louisiana.
