The
Southwest Louisiana Partnership for Economic Development and
six other entities opened a small office-based business
incubator in mid-2005. Participating in the incubator are
The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, City of Lake Charles,
IMCAL Regional Planning Commission, Chamber SWLA, SOWELA
Technical Community College, and the McNeese Small Business
Development Center.
The
initial facilities are located in the Magnolia Building,
owned by the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, in downtown Lake
Charles. All small business owners and entrepreneurs from
Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, and Jeff Davis
Parishes are eligible to participate in the programs offered
by the Incubator. Larger facilities are currently being
sought to serve the needs of small businesses and
entrepreneurs in Southwest Louisiana.
Current
tenants include administrative offices for a plumbing
company, a tour and charter company, a computer and
networking firm, and a medical billing office. |
